Luneta was born in Camaguey, Cuba to Cecil Curtis and Iris Campbell. At 3 she and her sister Valerie Amoy moved to Jamaica and were raised by their grandparents Katherine and Mortimer Curtis. At 24 she married the love of her life, Raphael Nation. They moved to Brooklyn, New York where she finished her high school diploma and became a U.S. citizen. She furthered her education at Brooklyn College, working as a nurse’s aide and cleaning homes; meanwhile, Raphael drove his own Medallion Cab in New York City.
Luneta and Raphael raised 4 children, Delroy, Carlton, Donna, and Carol. They prospered for 32 years and were living the American dream, owning their own home, business and 2 income properties. The duo loved to entertain and many a day Raphael would bring home a new acquaintance for Luneta to feed and love. Raphael never met a stranger and one of those special people was Carlton Brown, whom they “adopted” and called their son. After Donna’s untimely death, Luneta accepted the responsibility of raising both of her granddaughters Ifia and Tiffany as a single parent.
