

Mary Edythe Crane, of Sanford, Florida, entered peacefully into the open arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 1st, 2018. Edythe, as she was known, was born Mary Edythe Gornto in Sibley Memorial Hospital, Washington D.C. on November 25th, 1930 to Wilmer S. Gornto and Mary Pauline Hitafer. Edythe met the man she would eventually marry, Harold Elroy Crane Jr., in Washington D.C. while he served in the United States Army at Walter Reed Medical Center. They were married at Metropolitan Baptist Church on December 30th, 1950. Edythe sold fine jewelry for many years, working at Hudson's Department store in Westland, Michigan from 1965 to 1979 and after moving to Mechanicsburg, PA in 1979 at Pomeroy's in both Camp Hill, PA and Harrisburg, PA from 1981 to 1988. Edythe moved with her husband to Rotonda West, Florida in 1989 after being appointed missionaries by the Southern Baptist Convention. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Harold E. Crane, her daughter Mary Jean Savoie, son-in-law, David Savoie, her son, Maurice Crane, her daughter-in-law, Wendy Crane, her grandchildren, Michael Savoie, Rebecca Nordman and her husband, Erik, Timothy Crane, Lydia Crane and Liam Crane. She was also a great-grandmother to Dayln Savoie, Kaleb Nordman and Jacob Nordman. Visitation will be held at the Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel in Sanford, FL on Sunday, February 4th from 3-5pm. The funeral service will be held at Westview Baptist Church, Sanford, FL on Monday, February 5th at 11am. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Gotha, FL immediately following the funeral service.
