Mrs. Navija Valladares, passed away on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at the age of 92. She was an amazing entrepreneur and philanthropist, but the role she took most passionately was that of wife and mother.
Navija leaves behind 4 daughters, Dr. Navija Valladares-Mckinnon (Russ), Dr. Ivette Valladares-Barrios (Rene), Dr. Jeannette Valladares-Kwapich (Todd) and Dr. Blanca Valladares Nutter (Denver) and 7 grandchildren ; Roger Rene Barrios (Addison), Giovanna Barrios, Emely Rivero, Justin Kwapich (Emily) and Dylan Kwapich; a nephew, Dr. Tony Achkar (Venus) and a great nephew, Christopher Achkar.
Navija was born in Camaguey, Cuba on December 8, 1928 and in 1948 married her forever love, Roger Valladares (1926-2003). When communism threatened their livelihood in 1960, they moved to Ohio where they would raise their daughters and proudly became US Citizens in 1965. They were Florida residents since 1984.
Navija was a woman of integrity, kindness, selflessness, unconditional love, generosity, encompassing femininity, intelligence, and hard work in her everyday life. Navija taught her daughters by example and always said “life is like a rose, sometimes to get to the petals, you have to go through some thorns” Never give up.
