Nicholas was born in Trenton, NJ to Joseph and Lucy Panfen on July 8, 1936, and was raised in Trenton. He is a graduate of Trenton State College, where he met his wife of 59 years, Leona Salandra Panfen of Belleville, NJ.
Nicholas was predeceased in death by his parents Joseph and Lucy, wife Leona, daughter Laura and son Michael. He is survived by his daughter Christine, son Stewart, grandchildren Nicholas and Josephine, brother Jerry Panfen and sister Joan Flagg (George). In addition, he is survived by many cousins, family-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
