

She was born on October 27, 1938, in Santa Cruz, in the parish of St. Elizabeth on the island of Jamaica, West Indies. Her mother was Joyce Ruby Corrine Wallace, a High School Home Economics teacher, and her father was Luther Oliver Wallace, a inspector in the National Public Health Service. She grew up in Santa Cruz, where she attended the local elementary school. She later attended Hampton boarding school known as the premier High School for girls in the entire English-speaking Caribbean. At Hampton, she excelled as a student in Home Economics, won a number of awards, and was an avid and capable tennis and volleyball player.
Pamela attended a number of tertiary institutions. She exhibited an aptitude for statistics and worked for the Sugar Research Council in Jamaica. She later worked as an administrative assistant for the consortium which operated the Bauxite companies in Jamaica.
She emigrated to the United States and worked as an administrative assistant for the Atlantic Richfield company at Rockefeller Center, New York. While based in New York, on a visit to Jamaica, she met John Lyle at a social gathering. He was also visiting Jamaica and lived in New York. Pamela and John were married on June 6, 1970, in Jamaica. Shortly thereafter, John was assigned to a management position in Minneapolis, Minnesota, with United Parcel Service. Pamela accompanied him to Minneapolis.
John was later assigned to a position in Texas, and Pamela and their family moved to San Antonio. Pamela, an amateur pianist and fond of classical music, got deeply involved with the San Antonio Youth Orchestra. She was a Board member of the Orchestra and was a chaperone for the Orchestra on their European tour visiting Germany, Poland, and Austria. While in San Antonio, Pamela also established a floral design service serving an affluent clientele.
Pamela moved to Heathrow in Lake Mary in 1996 shortly after John had retired from United Parcel Service. She traveled extensively, covering Europe, the Pacific, and the Caribbean. She was a member of the Heathrow Women’s Club. She was also a member of the Cathedral Church of St. Luke in Orlando.
She is survived by her husband John, her son John Jr., her daughter-in-law Denise, and grandchildren Marley Ann and John III.
Her funeral will be held at The Cathedral Church of St. Luke, 130 North Magnolia Ave., Orlando, Florida 32801, at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 1, with a reception immediately following in The Great Hall of the Cathedral. Complimentary parking is available on the lot beside the Cathedral. If the lot is at capacity, guests are encouraged to park in the Regions garage. Please see an usher to receive a parking voucher.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Club.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 1, 2024 at The Cathedral Church of St. Luke, 130 N. Magnolia Avenue, Orlando, Florida 32801. The repast will follow the service in The Great Hall at the Cathedral . A private service will be held at Oaklawn Park Cemetery in Lake Mary, Florida.
