Paul was the kind of guy that you could talk to for hours and never get bored with the conversation.  He was very straight forward and honest and told it like it was. 

I am glad I got to know him, you will be missed. I am very proud to call him my friend.

 Paul and I met  in the ELC  “bullpen”  in the GM building in ‘89-‘90.   I was a rookie salesman learning my way around Lauder and the city, Paul was a “graduate” of ELC QA Dept using his knowledge as a salesman for Nadel Industries.  We spent a lot of time talking while waiting for our appointments and quickly became friends.  Paul was a straight shooter, a little too straight for some people, but I loved it.   Things were black and white in his world.  You always knew exactly where you stood with “Paulus”.   The frank and opinionated conversations grew us closer over time and those bullpen sessions rolled into “happy hour” at 5757 at the Four seasons.  We setup shop at that small bar with Olga slinging $8.00  Heinekens (big bucks back then).  Occasionally we’d even allow some customers to join in, but mostly it was us there 2-3 nights a week.  Paul was a great sounding board on strategy and people.  He loved comparing notes and took suggestions as much as he gave advice.   I last saw Paul 4-5 years ago at Makeup LA.  He’d just been given clearance to travel and when I ran into him he was straight off the plane rolling his suitcase through the show.  We hadn’t seen each other in years but picked up like it was yesterday.  I didn’t catch the significance at the time.  3 days later Paul sent me a note about how nervous he was to come to the show and that I was the first person he saw.  He thanked me for helping him get his sea legs with an old friend  before taking on the masses.  I saved that note and read it again on Saturday when I heard the news of his passing.  Great friend, great Professional, great person.  Gone far too soon.  Love you Paul.

I first met Paul on a Friday night at neighborhood Italian restaurant in Commack
Long Island named Mannino’s. He was sitting at a high-top table in the corner by
the bar having a glass of wine. Each Friday night there was Paul and we
exchanged pleasantries. Eventually Paul would join my wife and I for dinner and
the friendship blossomed.
He was a very private man, a caring man, sincere, honest and always straight
forward. With Paul, “What you see is what you got”.
In 2010, my wife had her third battle with breast cancer, and was in Winter Park
hospital. On this day, she had a serious surgery and had jut been moved from
recovery to her room. As we were sitting there talking, we looked up and there
was Paul. He had just landed at the Orlando Airport from one of his overseas
business trips and came immediately to the hospital to check on us. To this day
my wife still talks about Paul being there for her. When we thanked him and told
him how much we appreciated his visiting, he said it was nothing, it was on the
way home. Typical Paul.
Over the years we shared dinners, golf, and our men’s only luncheons.
One dinner was during Orlando’s Magical Dinning Month. During this period
restaurant’s will offer three course dinners for $35 per person, it is a special menu
and drinks are not included. My wife found a restaurant on a golf course with a
spectacular view, and we met for dinner. Paul was in charge for selecting the
wine. We had a great time, then we got he bill, $480.00. I never let him select the
wine again.
The happiest I’ve seen Paul is when Vanessa came into his life. My wife and I were
so happy for both of them. Never knew what a Romantic he was, until Vanessa.
He loved Italy, especially the Amalfi coast and he could not wait to share it with
her, and he did in a very special way.
Rest in peace my dear friend, it was an absolute joy knowing you and being your
friend.


Memories of my friend Paul Horgan

I have known Paul for over 29 years, which is more than half of my life.
Paul is full of life and I have so many wonderful memories of trips Eric and I went on with Paul. He
would come into town and we would plan a whirlwind tour somewhere in California or Las Vegas, and
good food, wine and many laughs were always on the menu!!!
It didn’t matter how much time had passed since we saw Paul, we would pick up right where we left off
like time had stood still. We were more like family in addition to being friends. We would always speak
at Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter and Birthdays, as family and good friends would do. When Eric had
his stroke and almost died, he was on the first plane out to help me with him at the hospital and support
the kids and I through the whole ordeal.
He loved my Mom and would send flowers to her for her birthday or if she was sick.
When the kids were born, he would send them Christmas gifts. They would receive numerous boxes of
Gymboree clothes and Paul would pick out the cutest outfits for them.
He always worried about me being a Los Angeles Police Officer and would ask when I could retire.
Even though we were miles apart, he was always there for you and a part of our lives.
I remember when he introduced us to Vanessa, and we were so happy that he had found such an
amazing woman to share his life with. He was so happy, and we could see how much he loved Vanessa.
We knew he had found his love, and she would always take care of him.
Saying goodbye to Paul is one of the most difficult things I have ever done. I told him I would see him in
Heaven and he told me that he would save me a place!! Lol Typical Paul Horgan


I first met Paul in the early Nineties, when he visited Estee Lauder in England to service our account with Inoac Packaging.
His professionalism and character immediately endeared me to him. Since that time we have maintained a strong connection.
When I was transferred to our American factory in Melville Long Island, to join Global Supplier Relations, Paul was one of the first to welcome me, both professionally and personally.

I have many happy memories of Paul's favourite Japanese restaurant on Long Island and opportunities to enjoy a game of Golf at Paul's Golf Club. As is often the case, when playing golf, talk always turned to work and Paul often joked that he would not play golf with me again because I managed to negotiate cost reductions on his products, whilst he was taking a critical putt into a hole.  

When I retired back to England, Paul always tried to visit my wife Sylvi and I on his business visits and we both fondly remember enjoyable meals and times with Paul and Vanessa.

Paul was one of the most determined men I have known and this determination to fight all the medical challenges thrown at him over the last few years, illustrates the strength of the man.

The world will be a sadder place without Paul.

Hi Vanessa, I am sorry to hear about your loss. My deepest condolences to you and your family.  Paul is a kind person and he helps me a lot.  Every time when we encounter any problem, he will try his best to fly over from US to HK to help us out.  Whenever he comes to HK, we get together with my family and my kids.  We spent lots of happy and treasure time together.  Our family are thinking of you and sending our condolences during this difficult time. Take great care of yourself.

I want to tell a very long story that is still going on. About how we met at Estee Lauder. And then about all the years we worked together when Paul was at Nadel Industries and then at Inoac. I could talk about all the travel, all the trips overseas to manufacturing plants. Some in wonderful places and some in awful places. Long trips in cars over rutted roads with cows and oxen walking along side. Sleeping in beds that were boards with a blanket on them. Dozens and dozens of Chinese banquets with me eating only peanuts and drinking endless cans of Coke. Paul with his wry sense of humor, always appearing to be serious and the rest of us cracking up as we listened to his comments.
We had breakfast together always at the Four Seasons, we had lunches together and endless conversations on how to improve whatever we were working on. Improve the process, improve the communication, improve the product, improve the outcome. Paul has always fought for the customer. It made you want to work with him. You knew that the outcome was going to be excellent. If you were worrying, he was worrying more.
We used to talk a lot about Long Island. About his parents and about my parents all of whom ended up in Florida. We had Long Island in common. It is where we grew up.
Paul is such a kind and generous person. He does not want any of us to notice. He does not want you to think so. But he cannot hide it. Sometimes tough and gruff on the outside he is a beautiful person on the inside.

I met Paul back in 2004. He was living in New York and visited Florida often. We quickly became very good friends . We had a lot in common. We enjoyed talking about food and wine . I guess that’s why we hit it off we both appreciated awesome food and great wine. I always had an esteem for him. I appreciated his wisdom and knowledge of life. I have many great memories. One of my fondest memories was enjoying a 6 hour lunch in Manhattan with him. He always had the best recommendations for food and wine. We had many great conversations at Terramia while enjoying a bottle of wine and cheese. I remember he shared with me that he had planned a trip to Italy. He was so excited because he was planning on proposing to his wonderful partner Vanessa. I was so happy he mad met the person he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.  He had great insights for traveling. He knew all the best places to eat all over the world. When my family and I went to Asia, he was so helpful with his great tips. He will be greatly missed by my family and all staff at Terramia ristorante.

One of the best and had a great sense of humor. Paul was one of the best professional sales people that ever called on me during my 30 years in the beauty industry. He truly believed the customer was always right. He was always there when I visited any of the factories in Asia, Europe and the USA.
I loved the cocktails and the dinners with Paul as he was a great story teller and would easily make you laugh.
I can only imagine that he will be pain free and happy in his next life!

Paul and I met in the mid 70’s at a club called EL CID, 2/3 nights a week dancing and drinking. 
In the 90’s Paul hired me at Inoac, where we grew the business with his knowledge  and my contacts ( didn’t have the knowledge)
Many long nights in sales meetings at the four Seasons eating and drinking Heineken’s or Red wine, sometimes both. 
Always great times with customers at north shore steak house or Paces’s. 
Paul was tough but fare, my way or Highway …
and it worked. 
My wife had macular degeneration in her eye and it was not covered by Inoac’s insurance policy… well Paul made sure it was covered. 
We worked with Peggy Richie in the KY plant and Paul enjoyed having her come up to NY and show her the sites in Manhattan. 
No one knew Manhattan like Paul. 
We had many nights together with customers eating in the best restaurant’s in Manhattan. 
I was asked to only drink beer or red wine because when I drank Vodka fights would break out lol ( nothing serious). 
We would take customers to his golf club ST George’s and they did not play good golf. 
We had to make it interesting so we played a game called bingo, bango and bongo. 
First ball on the green, closet ball to the hole and first ball in the hole, lots of laughs. 
Paul is a man of character and integrity that can’t and won’t be compromised. 
I am fortunate to have enjoyed his friendship all these years and want him to know how much he has meant to me.


He will always be Paulie to me!  When he and I were about 14 years old, my girlfriend and I stopped at Aunt Rose's and Paul was there.  She asked me where I had been hiding Paul.  She said he is soooo cute!  Not only was he cute, he was a kind, generous and funny man.  His mom had him sit in the living room on Melody Lane and play Moon River on his guitar at a family party many years ago.  I will always think of him when I hear Moon River or Fly Me to the Moon.  He was lucky to have you, Vanessa, and we are lucky he brought you into our family.  God Bless!
