Richard Stephen Albright passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, just one day shy of his 80th birthday. He fought a courageous private battle with Parkinson’s. Born January 10, 1945, in Yonkers, NY to John and Helen Albright. Richard was the fourth of five siblings, all of whom he remained close with.
Richard graduated from Gorton High School in 1962 and went on to learn the bowling industry. Following in his brother’s footsteps he became a business owner and opened several bowling centers in Michigan and Florida.
On July 17th, 1965, Richard married his high school sweetheart Maureen McEvoy, and they went on to have four children. After 17 years of marriage, they decided it was best to part ways and divorce. Soon after Richard found happiness again and married Diane (Sue) LaBuschewsky on November 3rd 1984. He became a stepfather to her children, Jill and Robbie and he and Sue also had a son of their own Stephen. They remained married until Sue’s passing in 2011.
Although Richard was a very private person, he had much success with his bowling centers and maintained lifelong friendships through the industry. He loved to travel, loved a good chess match, never missed a Jets game and loved his wine with a side of ice. Despite the challenges Parkinson’s presented, he faced each day with remarkable grace and resilience.
Richard is survived by his children: Darcel Kutcher (Frank), Richard Albright (Rhonda), Shannon Kutcher (Jeff), Michael Albright (Jaclyn), Stephen Albright (Danielle). Stepchildren: Jill Griffin (Bill) and Robert Wilson. Grandchildren: Brittanie Mayfield, Megan Shertzer, Alex Kutcher, Nicholas Kutcher, Payton Kutcher, Cole Kutcher, Camden Kutcher, Addison Albright, Everett Albright and Liam Albright. Great Grandchildren: Welsey Shertzer, Atlas Kutcher and Jameson Mayfield (on the way) his brother Donald Albright and sister June Colosi as well as many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Sue, parents John and Helen Albright, brother Robert Albright and sister Agnes Basler.
A celebration of his life will be held on February 15th. In lieu of flowers we ask for donations to be made to Parkinson’s research.
