Richard Spalding Johnstone, 72, of DeBary, Florida passed away on December 22, 2016. He was born on September 8, 1944 in Quincy, Massachusetts; the son of James Johnstone Jr., Scotland, and Winnifred May Johnstone of Weymouth, Massachusetts. Richard grew up in Landover Hills, Maryland. Rich leaves behind, his wife of 48 years Dee, and 2 sons James (Heather), Peter (Maureen), two grandchildren Jase and Julian. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Judy and Elaine, and daughter Alise. Rich served our country in the US Air Force during Vietnam. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Maryland on December 22, 1973 and worked for GSA for 31 years retiring in April 2005. He enjoyed fishing, crabbing, camping, “get-togethers” with family and friends, cruising and loved to listen to 60’s and 70’s music. Visitation will be held Friday, December 30, 2016 at St. Ann Catholic Church in DeBary, from 10:00 to 11:00 am. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 am in the church. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Park Cemetery in Sanford. In lieu of flowers his family suggest donations be made to Florida Health Hospice Care Foundation, 60 Memorial Medical Parkway, Palm Coast, Florida 32164.
