

Stella was born on February 18, 1949, in Bogotá, Colombia. She later made her home in the United States, where she built a life grounded in faith, family, and dedication. On June 9, 1976, she married the love of her life, Ivan Tafur. Together, they shared a beautiful marriage of nearly five decades and were just five months away from celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, a milestone that reflected their deep love and lifelong commitment to one another.
Stella worked in the field of accounting, where she was known for her diligence, integrity, and strong work ethic. Above all, she was devoted to her family and took great pride in her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Ivan Tafur; her children, Daniel Tafur, Ivan Tafur, Jr., Christina Figuereo (Leandro), and Diana Tafur; and her cherished grandchildren, Tatiana Tafur, Gabriella Figuereo, Leandro Jaxen Figuereo, Evie Tafur, and Ruby Tafur. She is also survived by her brother, Edgard Chaves, and his wife, Mary Kay Chaves; her sister, Martha Chaves; and many extended family members and loved ones.
A Funeral Mass honoring Stella’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on February 17, 2026, at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Coral Springs, Florida.
Stella will be remembered for her quiet strength, loving heart, and unwavering devotion to her family. Her legacy of love and faith will continue to live on through all who were blessed to know her.
