

Teddy Barker, 85, beloved husband, father, GDaddy, Great GDaddy, brother and uncle went to his forever home with Jesus on September 21,2017. Teddy was born on July 19, 1932 in Humboldt, Tennessee; the son of Dewitt and Virginia Barker. Teddy received his Bachelor of Science and Masters Degree from Murray State University in Kentucky. While serving in the army, Teddy married Anita Moore on November 22, 1956. They celebrated 60 years of marriage. They moved their family to the Sanford area in 1958, where Teddy took a position as a science teacher at Sanford Junior High. He later become the assistant principal and was very involved in the various activities of the school. He opened up Lakeview Middle School in 1968 and later Greenwood Lakes where his school received the Excellence in Education Award. He travelled to Washington DC and personally accepted on the school’s behalf from President George H.W. Bush. He received many awards during his tenure. He retired after 36 years in education leaving behind a legacy of learning and teaching by example to tens of thousands of students in the Seminole County area. He was a man of honor and very well respected in the community. After retiring, he enjoyed golfing, traveling, reading, going to movies, and watching his grandchildren in their various activities. He was an active member and deacon at Central Baptist Church. He had unwavering faith. His earthly journey was a loving testament of our Lord's active grace which he extended to others. He was dearly loved by his devoted wife Anita, Son Jay (Michelle), daughters Lisa (Robbie) Robertson, Mitzi Renee(Thad) Rush his grandchildren Matthew(Ashley) Robertson, Bryan(Christen) Robertson, Chandler(Marissa) Robertson, Erin Rush, Riley and Tyler Barker, great grandchildren Barnabas, and Clyde Robertson. Also surviving are his brother Harold W. Barker and many nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held at Central Baptist Church on Monday, September 25, 2017 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm at the church with Rev. Freddy Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Park Cemetery. Teddy’s family suggest that in lieu of flowers donations in his honor be made to Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs.
