

Thelma Joan Stewart, known as Joan, passed away from cancer in Orlando Florida on July 20, 2025. She was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia on April 18, 1945, to Tora (Trenholm) Oulton and Robert Oulton. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.
Joan was known for her active involvement in her grandchildren’s lives, with Markham Woods Presbyterian church, and car club meetups with her husband. She cherished her many pets throughout her life. For a time, Joan had a catering business delivering to restaurants in the Orlando area. Her steak pie, shepherd’s pie, and homemade perogies were outstanding.
She is survived by her brothers Gary Oulton and Winston Oulton, her son, Ian Stewart, and grandchildren Danielle Stewart and Reed Stewart. She is also remembered by her stepson Andrew Stewart from her late husband and his two children Madeline Stewart and Colin Stewart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Al Oulton, Keith Oulton, Don Oulton, and Shirley Oulton, and beloved husband of 31 years, Daniel Stewart of Toronto, Ontario.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service and Celebration of life will be held at Markham Woods Presbyterian Church on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at 1:30pm. Food will be served.
