On August 9, 1923, Vernon C Feddersen was born to Carl and Bertha Hirseland Feddersen in Center, Nebraska. Growing up in family of 8 brothers and sisters who all have preceded him in death, he developed his sense of humor and practical jokes.
He joined the Navy during WW 2, serving in Pacific and Atlantic theater. Vernon retired after 20 years with the rank of Chief Petty Officer at Sanford Naval Air Station. He loved fishing the St. John‘s River, Puzzle Lakes and Black Hammock area, always someone wanted to go.
He worked at Sanford Post Office for a number of years delivering mail to different areas in Sanford. He filled in where as needed, as an alternate route mail carrier.
In 1963, Vernon had a house built in Lake Mary and started selling insurance like his father. He would retire after 37 years.
He was a charter member of Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, Sanford, Florida.
Dad felt a civic responsibility, to give back to the community. Joining Lake Mary Rotary club, he held many club positions and maintained a perfect attendance throughout membership, being very proud of this fact. He received the Paul Harris award from Paul Harris, himself. He was very involved also with the Community Improvement Association of Lake Mary, building the first community center for local residents. He was a Charter member of Fleet Reserve Chapter 147 for over 60 years. Receiving many awards from these associations including Man of the Year in Lake Mary.
Surviving is his wife Dorothy of 67 years, daughters, Dianne and Cynthia, 2 granddaughters Heather and Holli and 5 great grandchildren Joseph, Charlotte, Jett, Ray and Kira.
