Adoring Grandmother. Dedicated Mother. Loving Sister. Caring Friend.
Born November 22nd, 1955.
Passed away peacefully on the evening of July 22nd, 2022 in Los Angeles, California at a youthful age of 66. She bravely and quietly battled cancer for two years and is survived by her two children, Ann & Bryan.
Born to Cecilia Chan and Tong Tee Ong in Mindoro, Philippines, Amie was nicknamed “the tomboy” for her mischievous antics aimed at her six siblings. She moved to the United States in 1982 to find a more fortuitous life for herself and her children. Amie always made time for self care and would never step foot out the door without perfectly coiffed hair or the perfect outfit for the day, even if it was just to go to the supermarket. Amie would frequently miss her Filipino comfort foods like sisig, palabok, pancit, and sinigang. She took joy in cooking and sharing her culinary creations with her children, family, and friends. Although she always denied ever having a sweet tooth, she never turned down gummy snacks, sour belts, European cookies or KitKat flavors from Japan.
When Amie was not working at the Bank or entrenched in family life, she turned to her hobbies– shopping for a new outfit or boots for those California Fall/ Winters, or trying new cuisines and restaurants. Her friendly and cheerful disposition made it easy to forge friendships with clients and co-workers at the bank or re-connect with friends from high school or college from years past.
She found her true calling in becoming a Grandmother and thoroughly spoiling her beloved grandson. Amie doted on and loved every moment with her super silly and mischievous Kai, which one can only assume was a trait passed on from Amie in her youth. We will forever love, cherish, and miss you, Amie.
A memorial service will occur Sunday, August 14, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92705 with the committal service to immediately follow.
