Angele Bilos was born on June 8, 1931 in Ismailia, Egypt and was one of eight children of Rizk and Miriam Abdel Motagalli. She has four daughters from her first marriage. After the family home in Suez was bombed during the Six-Day War, Angele immigrated to the United States with her youngest daughter, Laila. She worked for the City of Staten Island, New York before moving to California where she dedicated her life to serving her children and grand-children, especially her grand-daughter Sarah.
Angele cared deeply for others, and her heart and home were always open to helping and serving her family and friends. She cultivated and maintained international, multi-generational, life-long friendships. She was a great cook, generous to all in times of trouble and never met a stranger. She was full of life and loved to travel.
Angele is survived by her four daughters: Soheir Salib, who lives in Eqypt, and her children Sylvia, Magdy and Cherry; Odette Bailey and her daughter, Katie; Mervat Kamel and her children Sameh and Mira; Laila Pence and her daughter Sarah who all reside in Orange County. There are four sons-in-law and fourteen great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her devoted second husband of forty-one years, Emmanuel Bilos.
Angele was known to many as Teta, an affectionate Egyptian term for Grandmother. Teta brought a passion and exuberance to everything she did. Gracious, glamorous, dependable, smart, funny, witty, honest and very opinionated, she brought joy to all around her. Few people in the world have said “I love you” as often as Teta. She had a heart of gold and strong faith in God. She had a keen eye for beauty and to her last days would dress perfectly and even when walking was difficult, insisted on wearing high heels. Teta was a force of nature, a force of life, and a force of love. She will be missed and loved forever.
