Many people disengage from the world and others as they grow older, not Professor Hardy.  Understanding that people are different, he grew more inclusive with age.  In the words of poet Edwin Markham, Dr. Hardy drew a circle that took people in, rather than shutting them out.  He was a man of honesty and conviction, and he never hesitated to stand for what he believed was right.  He introduced his students to Herodotus and Thucydides, but also to tolerance, generosity, compassion, and respect.  His family, friends, and colleagues should have shared the richness of his character for another decade, at least.  I shall miss him, always.

My Grandfather was the most beautiful soul I have ever known. I have so many precious memories that will not fit here, So many things that meant so much to me like us singing songs where ever we might be or whatever we might be doing. He could read a book and make it come alive, my personal favorite was A Light in the Attic. The way he looked in all of our eyes when we were talking was if our words were gold which can never be replaced. You will always be my Light in the Attic Grandpa and forever missed.  I love you with all my heart, I am proud to be the granddaughter of such a legendary man. Love Tallisha (Sissi)

Sincere condolences to all the family.  I have wonderful memories of the time I spent in your home so many years ago. Carmon was a very gracious and kind man who will be greatly missed.
