OBITUARY

Carrie Elizabeth Romney

26 September, 1961 – 10 October, 2025
IN THE CARE OF

Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary

Carrie Elizabeth Romney (née Dimas) — beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend — passed from this life on October 10, 2025, in Valencia, California. She was born on September 26, 1961, at St. Joseph’s Hospital to John Dimas and Nancy Lillie.

Known affectionately as Yaya by her grandchildren, Carrie filled every space she entered with warmth, laughter, and light. She was the proud mother of seven children — Selina, Sophia, Carlos, Olivia, John, Mitchell, and Elise — and the adoring grandmother of ten: Eva, Cora, Eden, Benson, Hazel, Emer, Aria, Gianni, Noah, and Sage.

Carrie married the love of her life, George Scott Romney, in 2016. Together they shared a deep, joyful love marked by compassion, laughter, and an abiding faith in God.

Creative and whimsical by nature, Carrie saw beauty in everything. She loved birds, butterflies, and flowers, and found meaning in small, tender details — a handwritten note, a kind word, a shared laugh. Her favorite sayings, “It’ll be so fun!” and “It’ll be an adventure!” became a reflection of how she encouraged others to live: with hope, wonder, and courage.

She was a storyteller — one whose memories of climbing trees, playing baseball, and exploring her childhood neighborhood became bedtime stories her children cherished. She celebrated others with sincerity, always ready with applause, a compliment, or an enthusiastic “and then what happened?!” when a story paused. Carrie had a rare gift for making others feel seen, valued, and loved.

Carrie’s faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ was the compass of her heart. She strived to follow the Savior’s example in how she loved and served. Even amid life’s challenges, she sought to bring light to others — and that light remains, glowing softly in every life she touched.

She is survived by her husband, Scott; her children and grandchildren; her siblings, Michael, David, Raymond, and Anne Marie; and countless friends who became family. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Nancy.

Carrie will be remembered for her boundless creativity, her joyful heart, and her unwavering kindness. Though she is deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that her spirit continues — in every beautiful thing she loved, in the laughter of her grandchildren, and in the stories she told that will be told again and again.
