

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Donald Arthur Felton Sr. announce his passing, on January 24, 2018, at the age of 98. Don was born in Bath, Maine, to David Felton and and Dorothy Louise Witham. Don proudly served our Country, in the United States Navy. He retired after 30 years of service and tours in the Pacific during World War II as well as Korea and Vietnam as a Chief Warrant Officer W-4. He lived in many States during his 30 years in the Navy and he was known for his non-stop cross country driving when relocating to a new station. Don, his wife Gladys Beatrice, and their three son’s Donald A. Felton Jr., Dennis D. Felton, and Dr. Gary W. Felton made their home in Orange, California. Don continued a lifetime of service to his community as he worked as a Supervising Financial Investigator for the Orange County Probation Department, retiring after 12 years. Don enjoyed Football and Boxing. He lettered as a tackle on the varsity football team as well as having some successful amateur boxing matches. Don was a fan of college football, with no game having more importance than the Army Navy game. He had an affinity for learning and was an avid reader of everything from the Dictionary to the Bible which he read from cover to cover. Don became very interested in Genealogy and with his determination and the use of written correspondence and a vintage typewriter he researched his family name back to William Felton in England, circa 1315.
Don, or “Pop” as he was known to his family, will be dearly missed by his 3 sons, 7 Grandchildren, 3 Step Grandchildren and his 18 Great Grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on February 2nd from 5:30 to 8 P.M. and a service to honor his life will be held on Saturday February 3rd at 12 Noon. Both memorials are in Waverly Chapel located at 1702 Fairhaven Ave, Santa Ana, Ca 92705, Fairhaven Memorial Park.
