Genevieve Ann Martinez, favorably known as “Anna”, 62, of Santa Ana, entered into God’s heavenly kingdom at 6.32 AM, Saturday, August 29th, 2020 at her residence in Santa Ana. She was born May 28th, 1958 in Las Cruces, New Mexico, to Mary Helen Villanueva and Rudy Rivera. At the age of 5 Anna and her mother relocated to California to begin their new life.
Those in Anna’s family surviving are her mother Mary Helen Rivera, one son, Ray Martinez; four daughters, Veronica Jamaica, Monica Medina, Trisha Martinez, and Vanessa Lopez; five grandsons, Rudy, Alexander, Andrew, Roy, Jozeph; seven granddaughters, Lexi, Luna, Yarumi, Jayme, Perlita and Aiyana; one aunt, Josephine Morales; one uncle, Michael Edward Rivera and many cousins.
Her father, Rudy Rivera and her grandson, Julian preceded her in death.
Anna was a long time resident of Santa Ana where she flourished and worked as a representative for Avon as well as babysitter. She very much enjoyed what she did for a living because she loved being around people. It was her caring nature that made her so successful.
Anna loved to cook, reading and knitting. She enjoyed listening to music and loved to dance to it. One thing she loved most of all was her family and friends. She had an amazing and giving heart. Anna was a person that could only be described by positive, loving words. She was a very spiritual and humble soul.
In October of 2019 Anna was diagnosed with stage IV clear cell renal cell carcinoma. This was a horrible shock to her and the family but she wanted to fight the cancer back and opted to be part of a clinical trial immunotherapy. For many months Anna had this therapy that did help which extended her time here on Earth. Anna fought hard and never gave up, she always continued with positivity and God’s grace.
In August of 2020 the cancer aggressively spread and she succumbed to the disease but under her terms. She was admitted into hospice care at home and she passed away pain free with her family at her bedside, just as she wished. God truly has one amazing angel in heaven now and her name is “Anna”. She will always be loved and will never be forgotten. She lives always in our hearts and memories. She lives on forever through her children and grandchildren.
