Irma Garcia Zapata was born May 30th, 1936, in Saltillo, Mexico. She moved to Texas in her teens and lived with her brother, Fidel. A few years later, she met and married our dad, Jose Segura Zapata (deceased) in 1953. They were blessed with six children: Mary, Albert, Joe, Elizabeth, Michael, and Richard. In 1959 the family moved from Texas to California and lived in Santa Ana. Irma worked hard to support the family with her first job as a fishing rod assembler for Garcia Fishing. Working various jobs along the way, she found her niche as a caregiver providing love and care for others. She obtained her CNA license and worked four decades caring for those in need, of which she shared with us many stories and experiences along the way. After retirement, Irma lived in Lake Forest, CA., spending most of her time at the senior center, which she enjoyed. She loved and participated in the local parades and enjoyed the activities offered at the center. Irma was a big Dodgers fan and enjoyed going to the games, especially if they won. She loved attending live local community concerts at the senior center, at Villa Valencia where she resided for four years and at Santa Fe Spring where she lived until the moment she left to be with the Lord. She was an amazing artist and produced gorgeous watercolor pieces. Spending time with her kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren was a favorite pastime. She is survived by her sister, Marielena. Her children: Mary, Joe, Elizabeth, Michael, and Richard. As well as her grandchildren: Joseph, Michael, Christopher, Amanda, Andrew, Natalie, James, Brianna, and eight great-grandchildren.
