

Born Jan. 28, 1927 in Englewood, NJ to William Joseph Marshall and Marie Brady, Kay attended St. Cecilia Catholic High School in Englewood, where she was taught biology by Vince Lombardi (yes, the future Green Bay Packers’ coach) and graduated in 1944. After high school, Kay worked as a typist for Bendix Aviation.
In 1952, Kay moved to Santa Ana, CA where she worked as long-distance telephone operator. All her life she proudly told of how she connected President Eisenhower when he called the Third National Boy Scout Jamboree that was held in Newport Beach in July 1953.
Kay married her husband, Cecil “Dutch” Hollon, in 1954, and they lived in Orange County for 56 years until his death in 2009. Over that time they resided in Garden Grove, North Tustin, Mission Viejo, and Santa Ana while raising six children – Candy, John, Michelle (died 1987), Stacy, Scott, and Roy (died 2014).
A member of the Tustin Area Women’s Club for more than 25 years, Kay was particularly active in the Antiques Group and Gadabouts. She was also a member of the Tustin Community Hospital Women’s Auxiliary where she served as a volunteer. Kay also participated for more than 20 years in the Women’s Health Initiative, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, a long-term national study focused on strategies for preventing the major causes of death and disability in older women.
Kay is survived by daughters Candy Clark of Riverside, CA; Stacy Hollon of Santa Ana, CA.; sons John Hollon (and wife Jill Itnyre Hollon) of Placentia, CA; and, Scott Hollon (and wife Dora Lopez Hollon) of Flower Mound, TX; grandchildren David, Richard, Kathryn, & Douglas Clark; Kevin, Christopher & Kimberly Hollon; AnneMarie, Michelle & James Hollon; Nicholas Hollon; 9 great grandchildren, and her feisty little dog Lily. She will be also be greatly missed by her exchange student “son” Julio Peralta, the entire Peralta family, and many other close friends in Nicaragua.
A memorial service for Kay will be held on Sunday March 15 at Fairhaven Memorial Park, Waverly Chapel, 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, CA., at 2:30 pm.
