Lillian Elizabeth Owens

September 23, 1917 – March 8, 2016

Lillian (Diederich) Owens of Villa Park, CA, died peacefully on March 8th, 2016 at the age of 98. Born in Juniata Nebraska to Nicho9las and Katherine Diederich, she was raised on a farm along with twelve brothers and sisters. She attended Assumption Church School from 1023=1932, then graduated from Roseland High School in 1935.

Lillian’s first marriage was to Patrick Brady of Denver, Colorado in 1940, till his passing in 1949. She then married Wayne Owens of Holdrege, Nebraska in 1963. They moved to California where Wayne practiced as an Orthopedic Surgeon in Orange County for many years. They enjoyed traveling throughout the world together. In 1976, they adopted their daughter, Lisa.

When Lillian was not traveling, she was successful in investing in real estate properties. Other hobbies included playing tennis, golf, working in her flower garden and playing cards with her friends and family.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband Wayne Owens, brothers Edward Diederich, Arthur Diederich, Maurice Diederich, Joseph Diederich and Robert Diederich, sisters Opal Kieffe, Marian King, Madeline Dobesh, Marceline Broullette, Gertrude Reese and Alice Johnson. She is survived by her sister Vivian Manriquez and her husband Frank Manriquez of Banning, CA, sister-in-law Fern Diederich of Lakewood, CA, daughter Lisa Wholley of Orange, CA and grandchildren Steve and Kera.

There will be a Memorial Service March 21, 2016 at 2:00 PM at St Norbert Catholic Church, in Orange, CA. Followed by an Inurnment at Fairhaven Memorial Park, Santa Ana, CA.
