To Michael's family, I'm just now seeing that Mike passed away. To say I'm so sad doesn't seem like it's enough. May you all find peace with the memories that you have. He was my high school sweetheart,I am so sorry for your loss. He will forever be in my heart. Love Connie

Patty and I offer our condolences. I have fond memories of you guys coming to our restaurant and watching your kids grow up. Watching Nick eventually go to Chapman and even work for us was special. Thinking of your family during this difficult time. 

I knew Mike from the days when I worked for my mom at her restaurant in old Towne Orange, Tokyo Cafe. It’s been about five years since my mom Patty sold it and retired, but I still vividly remember Mike, Nanette, Nick, Paige and Brooke (Brooklyn) coming into eat together every week.  I always started them off with a bowl of hot edamame (steamed soybean pods) lightly salted and a round of hot tea. Mike, Nanette and the kids were one of my top fav people who supported our small business- they weren’t just customers to us.  We considered them dear friends of ours, and so much so, that I even invited them to my very small wedding!  My husband, Jason, and I still have the wedding gift given to us by the Walkers in our house- a customized item from Balboa Island- which we will now treasure even more. Mike was always in a good mood, gregarious, and super kind to us. I can’t believe he is gone, and I’m still in shock. What an incredible loss of a wonderful person who made an lasting imprint on my family and I.  My prayers for comfort and healing to Nanette, Nick, Paige and Brooke and the rest of Mike’s family. I’m at a loss for words, so sorry to hear about Mike’s passing- we will miss him very much. Time is so short and we never know how much time we have with our beloved ones.
