Yola Mary Fanelli was born on April 4, 1926 in Detroit Michigan (friends and family referred to her as Mary). She was born to italian immigrants, John and Clara Fanelli. She was very close to her older Brother, Roland. She attended Cass Technical High School, which was a school for the arts. She loved painting and the arts and was very gifted in painting, especially with pen and ink and she also loved calligraphy. She was married in 1946 to Erminio Rea. They divorced in 1968, however, remained very close friends until his passing in 1996. She was very happy with her companion, Earl Cranton for almost 30 yrs., until his death in 2002.
She worked for Thrifty Drug Warehouse for over 30 years as a warehouse/clerical worker. This is where she gained many of her lifelong friends that she held dear to her heart, some of who are here today.
She loved her family and having family gatherings, especially Christmas, as that was her favorite time of year. She would always have her home decorated, even well after the holidays, as a way to extend and enjoy the holiday season. She enjoyed cooking and baking her traditional Italian recipes. She loved her children and grandchildren and loved filling their stockings and gifts to the max. She loved that as she was so generous and loving with everyone. She made many friends as she had such a warm and friendly demeanor to everyone. She had a larger than life personality and loved to laugh. She was the kind of person that you could ask her anything and she would give you an answer that was always uplifting and she related it with her life experiences. She loved her family so very much, especially her grandchildren. You would always see her either playing cards with them or showing them her card tricks or telling them all of her interesting stories of her childhood. She loved music and she was always singing around the house to old records or old movies on tv.
She was raised catholic and continued it throughout her life.
She is survived by her daughters, MaryAnn and Susan, son-in-law Harold, granddaughter Erin, grandson Michael, granddaughter Kimberly (husband Rich), and great grandchildren, Aubrey and Jackson. She will be dearly missed by everyone.
