

Albert S. Vieira passed away suddenly on July 14, 2012 on the island of São Miguel, Azores, Portugal. He was the devoted husband of Catherine Vieira of Santa Clara. Loving father of Linda (Patrick Boring) Vieira and Manuel (Lina) Vieira. Dear grandfather of Albert and Elisabeth Vieira. Brother of Bernardette (Bill Lynch) Vieira-Lynch, Batista S. (Dolores) Vieira, Lino S. (Mary) Vieira (deceased), and Velma (Dalbert) Santos. Uncle to 10 nieces and nephews. He leaves numerous cousins in the United States, The Azores, and mainland Portugal. Albert was born on March 25, 1935, in Rosais, São Jorge, Azores to
Manuel Sequeira Vieira and Ana Oliveira Vieira. He was the eldest of five children. In 1954, he immigrated to the United States with his brother Batista. Albert lived more than 50 years in Santa Clara, where he served twelve years on the Planning Commission and was twice a City Council candidate. Albert owned and operated Vieira Drywall and Taping Company for over
three decades and was a pioneer of the Portuguese-American drywall industry in the San Francisco Bay Area. More recently, he has owned and managed several mobile home parks in the Monterey Bay Area. He and his wife Catherine co-owned Vieira Enterprises, dealers of mobile and manufactured homes. Albert was a proud member of the Luso-American Fraternal Federation Council 20B-44C-68B of Mountain View/Santa Clara since 1956. He held various positions throughout the years in the Luso-American Fraternal Federation, ultimately serving as President in 1976-77. Albert’s dedication continued in the Luso-American Life Insurance Society, where he served as Director, President, and Chairman of the Board. Albert was a longtime member of the I.F.E.S. of Mountain View, where he was a Past-President. He was also a member of Aliança Jorgense of San José, Brotherhood of St. Anthony, various other Portuguese Holy Ghost Halls and of fraternal benefit societies such as the S.E.S., I.D.E.S. and U.P.E.C., now P.F.S.A. Friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, July 26 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 North Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA. There will also be a visitation at
6:00 PM with a Vigil and Mass beginning at 7:00 PM at Five Wounds Church, 1375 E. Santa Clara Street, San José, CA. Interment will be Friday, July 27 at 11:00 AM, at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln Street, Santa Clara, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to the Albert S.
