Anna May Garcia passed away on Sunday, February 23rd, 2025 at the age of 89. She was born October 15, 1935, in Las Animas, Colorado to Raymond Arguello and Percy Sisneros. She was the second eldest of eleven children, and has two surviving brothers, Edward Arguello and Bobby Arguello. She was blessed with three children, Gwen, Jay, and Pamela, eight grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. Her love of her life, Gilbert Garcia, passed in 2010 after 54 years of marriage.
Anna celebrated life with people. Her days were filled with going to luncheons with the many clubs she was active in, attending church activities, gardening in her yard, and painting in her studio. She attended a monthly "Cousins" luncheon, where the Garcia cousins met at different restaurants to catch up on each other’s families, and reminisce about past times. Photos were taken, and plans were made for the next time they would meet. Anna looked forward to the monthly Campbell Art Guild meeting, where she was a member for 15 years. There she was able to display her art and learn new techniques for her passion of painting. She attended art classes with the Campbell Recreation department, and enjoyed meeting new artist friends there. One year Anna had an art show in her back yard to display the large variety of works she created: landscapes, and still life paintings using oils, pencil, acrylics and watercolors. After retiring from a 30+ year career as a wafer fab supervisor with Hewlett Packard Microwave Semiconductor Division, Anna met up with her colleagues for a quarterly luncheon. She was the only woman in the group who attended but didn't feel out of place and enjoyed the discussion about their lives, travels, and family. She also participated in AARP, Queen of Apostles Women’s Guild, and a daily Rosary group.
Anna was an adventurer, always wanting new experiences and to explore other parts of the world. She served in the Air Force, and that is where she met her husband at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. After they were married, he worked at United Airlines, which enabled them to travel. They traveled to the Far East, Europe, South America and within the United States. Later in life, they purchased a motorhome and traveled the United States visiting family on their trips. After Gilbert passed away she continued to travel to new locations, Ireland, Budapest, St. Petersburg, Europe, and Israel. One of her last trips was to the Holy Land with her nephew Jeremy, and niece Maria. She was so grateful for this opportunity.
These adventures, and experiences, led to a long life of wonderful friendships and memories. On her last day on earth, she said “she had a very blessed life.”
Services are: Visitation Tuesday March 18, 5-8pm with Rosary at 6pm at Lima Family Mortuary in Santa Clara. The mass service will be held Wednesday March 19, at 10:30am at Queen of Apostles Church in Santa Clara. Burial will follow at Mission City Memorial Park.
