Anthony J. Anastasi

Anthony J. Anastasi passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at the age of 97. Tony lived his life with determination, integrity, fairness, humor, respect and gracious loving kindness. Tony was born in Boston, MA, the son of Sicilian immigrants Catherine and Pietro Anastasi. He graduated from San Jose State University and earned a juris doctor degree from Stanford University in 1940. He served for 4 years in the US Army. Tony enjoyed his work as a business and labor law attorney in downtown San Jose. He was an active and prominent member of the community for over 60 years. He and Genevieve loved to travel and he infused all the children with a love of Stanford sports and the joy of family life. He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club, the Sainte Clare Club, the Civic Club and numerous political and civic organizations. Tony is survived by his beloved wife, Genevieve and his close and loving family: Peggy Anastasi, Gina Anastasi, Tama & Mike Malwaukie, Pascal & Reyna Anastasi and two grandchildren, Mara & Bob Galliani and three grandchildren, and Peter & Sheri Anastasi and three grandchildren. His spirit lives on in all of us. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014 at 11AM at St. Mary Parish, 219 Bean Ave., Los Gatos. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, Tony asked donations to be made to the American Cancer Society, Stanford Law School or a charity of your choice.
