Antonio moved from São Miguel to Terceira in November of 1950. While there, he worked at the U.S. Air Station and married his first wife, Iria Pacheco, who was also from Nordeste, with whom he had four sons. After his wife’s passing, he married Maria Feijo on November 13, 1966 and together they had a daughter. He worked as a supply clerk where learned to speak English and received an award for his outstanding work. Antonio and Maria immigrated to California on December 13, 1973 with all five children where they spent seven months in Tulare before moving to San Jose. Antonio and his family settled in Santa Clara where they became active members of the community and St. Clare’s Church. He worked in environmental services at Kaiser Hospital for 20 years before retiring.
Antonio loved to plant a garden every year and was an avid reader. He also enjoyed serving in his church as communion minister & member of the Portuguese Council, and loved family get-togethers. His latest hobbies included playing with his great-grandbabies and watching Portuguese programs on TV. He was always a gentleman, a loving husband, a great father, wonderful grandfather (Vovô) and great-grandfather. He was a gentle soul, an educated man, and most of all, a faithful Catholic man.
