Arthur “Art” Naughton passed away on January 5, 2019. Born in Athleague, on the River Suck in County Roscommon, Ireland, he immigrated to Detroit in 1954. He completed high school while living with his older sister, Moira, and her husband, John. After serving two years in the US Army, he moved to San Francisco in 1962 where his brothers, Joe and Noel, were already living. In the summer of 1963 he met the love of his life, Alice “Allie” Molloy at a beach party. They were married in 1965 and celebrated their 53rd anniversary last May. Art was father of four children, Michael (Eimer), Brian, Maeve, and Tara Sundy (Mike), and grandfather to seven: Jack, James, Fiona, Branna, Matthew, Nora, and Andrew. He was known for his generosity, sharp wit, passion for gardening and fishing, and inability to understand how the woman he loved so much could be a Democrat. Art was very active in Saint Justin Parish throughout the forty years he lived in Santa Clara.
A rosary is scheduled for Friday, January 18 at 7pm at Lima Family Mortuary in Santa Clara. The funeral mass is scheduled for Saturday, January 19 at 11am at St. Justin Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Art’s memory can be made to St. Justin School or to a charity of your choice.
