A loving wife, mother, and daughter, Barbara entered into rest on March 21, 2013. She lost her long battle with cancer. She is survived by her mother, Sue Asti, her husband of 41 years, Tony, her son, Matthew, daughter-in-law, Maria, her daughter, Kristen, and son-in-law, Tom. She is also survived by her favorite grandchildren: Lucas Joseph, Leah Sue, Nico Asti, Ani Eleanore, and Dylan Hannon. She was delighted that each middle name related back to earlier generations of each family. Family was Barbara's greatest source of satisfaction and fulfillment. Born and raised in San Francisco of Italian descent, she graduated from Presentation High School and San Francisco State University. She taught elementary school in Bayview-Hunters Point, Vallejo, and Sunnyvale during a career that spanned some 36 years. She touched the lives in a positive way of over 1,000 students in her classes and at the schools where she taught. She was held in high esteem by faculty members, administrators, and parents, forming lifelong friendships with many of them along the way. Travel, reading, cooking and "catching up" were special diversions in her life. She was gifted with a wonderful sense of humor. Conversations, especially over a meal or on the phone, were her favorite pastime. She was a charter member of the ABCS and the Seven T's. You'll know who you are. She was also very close to the Presentation alums, the Saint Chrisopher's and Bellarmine communities, and was a treasured friend of many SCU alums.
