Carino Anthony Borjas, 94, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at his home in San Jose, California surrounded by his family. Carino was born February 13, 1928 to Martin and Aurelia (Ortega) Borjas in Fresno, California, the youngest of seven children.
Carino served in the USAF from 1945 - 1948 as a C-47 radio operator supporting the Berlin airlift, then as staff sergeant in the reserves. He met his bride and wife of 57 years, Lupe Joan Palomar, during this time and they were later married in Redwood City, California.
In 1950, Carino began his career in the paint industry, with Kelly-Moore Paints out of San Carlos, California, where he worked as plant foreman for 35 years. After his time at Kelly-Moore he still had energy to work corporate security at Apple Computer where executives complimented his friendliness and positive disposition. Apart from his busy work schedule, Carino enjoyed caring for his yard and garden and spending time with his family and pets. He loved to travel (most notably family trips to Disneyland and Hawaii) fish, read comics, enjoy his favorite TV westerns and rarely missed an opportunity to watch the 49ers, Giants and his beloved Warriors.
Carino is preceded in death by his wife, Lupe; survived in death by daughters, Norma Coe, Joanne Esters, Anna and Susan Borjas; son Daniel Borjas; son-in-law Steve Rios; grandchildren, Andrew and Anthony Coe, Christopher Borjas, Victoria Garcia, Belle Esters; and cocker spaniels Nick (no. 1) and Sam (no. 2).
