

Wife, mother, and grandmother, Carmel Dolores Malley was welcomed into the arms of Christ on September 1, 2014. Carmel is survived by her children Terry (Leslie) and Kimberley (Jerry). Together, they provided her with grandchildren who became the sparkle in her eyes: Jerome Patrick, Christina, Vincent, Patrick, Caitlin, Ryan and Dominic. She is also survived by her brother John Mallen (Barbara), sisters Marijane Modena (Al), Cheryl Underwood (Tom), Alana Mallen, and sister-in-law Midge Mallen and 38 nieces and nephews. Carmel is preceded in death by William Mallen, Peggy Nimburg, John and Claire Petrin, Nancy Murray, Maureen Ford, Barbara McCallion, Cheryl Hansen, and Albert Modena.Carmel was born on February 23, 1932 in San Francisco to Carmel Dolores and Howard John Mallen. Carmel graduated from Lowell High School and attended Lone Mountain College. Carmel married George Patrick Malley in 1953. In 1959, Pat and Carmel found a home with Santa Clara University where for 33 years she supported Pat and Terry as the most loyal and devoted person to each and every football team they coached. She loved and knew each player by name and story. Following Pat's death Carmel began her own career, working in the Alumni Office at Santa Clara University where she continued to win the hearts of all students. Carmel was active in philanthropy, she was a member of the Junior League and the Ladies of Charity. Carmel's loyalty, loving nature, and "style and class" will be missed by all the people she touched. Friends and family are invited to a funeral mass on Tuesday, September 9th at 10:00 am at Mission Santa Clara de Asis.
