David Hackleman, 64, of Sunnyvale, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on June 11th 2023 after a long battle with lung and kidney disease. He lived a few months short of 3 years following a double lung transplant which blessed his family with many more months of smiles, laughs, and memories. David battled through multiple hospital stays but he always pushed through each day and each challenge he faced with a fist bump or peace sign, demonstrating his willpower and strength. David loved God, family, friends, and the simple pleasures of life. He enjoyed trips to Disneyland with his loved ones, going to the beach, coaching at his kids’ softball, baseball, soccer, and football games, supporting Tahitian competitions, supporting at school functions, watching his Raiders and Giants games, watching race car races, and painting along with Bob Ross. Most importantly, David loved spending time with his family. David has a gentle soul, who knew exactly how to make others feel loved and cared for, whether they were family, friends, or even strangers. His smile and sense of humor lit up the room while brightening everyone’s day. He was a calming presence, bringing comfort with his hugs and his “I love you to heaven and back!”.
David is survived by his wife of 26 years, Michelle, children Cristina, Bubba (David Jr.), Michael, Donnie (Donald), Jesse, and Emily; grandchildren Stephanie, Christopher, Isabella, and Oliver; great grandchildren Landon, Ryleigh, Kenzie, and Hunter; and Godchildren. He is also survived by his mother, Felicitas and brothers James and Philip, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws. He will be remembered for his wonderful heart and compassionate nature. His memory will be kept alive through the stories filled with laughter and love shared by his family and friends with whom he loved so dearly.
A visitation for David will be held Sunday, June 25, 2023 at 12:00 PM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 North Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara, CA 95050, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
