Regardless of how you knew Giuseppe Martignetti, or Joe as many people called him, he was a pres¬ence. In his 99 years of life, Giuseppe took great pride in the family he created, loved his daily red wine, walks in the summer, family gatherings, and church. Many attribute his longevity to a lightning strike he survived as an infant, which was rumored to have pro¬vided his heart with superhuman strength.
He immigrated from Italy in 1956 with his oldest son in search of better opportunities for his family. He worked hard at various jobs and shortly after his wife Pompilia and 7 children joined them and they settled in San Jose, CA. He touched the lives of so many during his journey and has inspired countless more.
His legacy and spirit live on through his ever grow-ing family. His 8 children – Massimo (Fran), Carmen, Maria (Joe) Cook, Raffaele (Sharon), Annette (Steve) Randazzo, Marianne, Michelina (Ken) Duke, and Josephine, his 16 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews around the world.
Even in his final days, you would still hear him say "take it easy" his motto spo¬ken with a twinkle in his eye and wish for everyone to be happy.
