

Birthed at his family home, 845 Muender Avenue, Sunnyvale, where he lived for 19 years.
Hank was the oldest of two brothers, Roy Joseph and Richard James.
Hank attended Sunnyvale Elementary where he was voted President of the 1945 8th Grade Class.
He graduated from Fremont High School in Sunnyvale after 4 years, 1945-1949. He joined the Track Team his freshman thru senior years and became a star athlete.
Hank worked at Libby's Cannery in Sunnyvale during his High School years. Through his best buddy Rich La Herran he met the love of his life, Florence Sevilla at Libby's Cannery the summer of 1948.
Thus, the 3 year courtship began. In 1951 they borrowed Uncle Max's maroon 1948 Chevy and eloped to Reno, Nevada. They were married amongst good friends on January 13, before Hank went into the Air Force.
May to September 1951 after basic training at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas, Hank was sent to Aero Tech Industries at Oakland Municipal Airport in California.
Upon completing his Airframe Repair course, Hank was assigned to the 581st Air Resupply Squadron in Aurora, Colorado. Once settled he was furloughed to go home and pick up his bride.
In January, 1953 A/1c Martin was deployed to the Philippines. He spent 30 plus days on the U.S.N.S. General D.E. Aultman until his arrival at Clark AFB on the Philippine Islands.
Discharged in January, 1954 Hank returned home to Florence. He spent 5 years in the Air Force Inactive Reserve until January 1959.
Hank and Flo have two sons, Mitchell, born October 3, 1954 and Mark Philip, born June 22, 1957.
In 1962, they moved to San Jose, California to a brand new home.
Hank worked as an accountant for the U.S. Post Office for 25 years until he retired in 1986.
Hank and Flo joined the Spanish Heritage Society in 1991. Not long after, Hank became the Treasurer. He remained in that post until the club closed in December 2018.
Preceded in death by the love of his life, Florence Martin. Survived by his sons Mitchell and Mark Martin, daughters-in-law Estela and Dawn Martin, grandchildren Mathew, Nicholas and Travis Martin, Tawnya Kuzia, and 8 great grandchildren.
Lima Family Mortuary 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara. Grave service will immediately follow at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery across the street at 490 Lincoln Street, Santa Clara. Services are 2/6 @ 10:00 am visitation (closed casket), 11:00 funeral service, 12:30 grave site service at Cemetery.
