James Donald Lisius

Jim was born on July 4, 1961 in San Jose, CA where he lived most of his life. He was born to Donald (deceased) and Patricia Lisius and was the second of their 4 children. He graduated from Del Mar High School in 1979 and married his high-school sweetheart Frances (Rosano) in 1981. They lived in Texas for 6-years and returned to San Jose where they started their family. Jim worked at Lockheed Missiles and Space for almost 10 years while going back to school to obtain a degree in Administration of Justice so that he could pursue his true passion: police work. He spent his last 18 working years on the San Jose Police Department helping others by trying to make the streets safer while working on several specialized units.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Frances Rosano Lisius, his devoted daughters Jennifer Lisius-Grijalva (Bobby) married in 2015 and living in Campbell, CA and daughter Danielle Lisius living in Cupertino, CA. Before passing away, Jim had the honor of giving permission to Kirk Johnson (after making him sweat just a little) to marry Danielle. He was at peace knowing his daughters would be loved and taken care of by the men in their lives who also helped care for him while he was sick.

Jim is survived by his siblings: John Lisius (Angie) of Fernley, Nevada; Joseph Lisius (Karen) of Harleysville, PA; and Carole Larson (John) of Gilroy, CA. He is also loved and missed by his Father-in-law Tony Rosano (deceased) and mother-in-law Maria Rosano of San Jose, CA, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, family dog Cali, and two grandpups, Glacier and Maisy.

Jim lived life passionately and he lived it with just a little mischief when he could. He loved the outdoors; camping, hiking, mountain biking, road biking, fishing, boating, water skiing and snow skiing. He loved spending time with family and friends, sharing stories of his police adventures, and his passion for music and history.

His wife and daughters were the loves of his life and he admired and loved his mother beyond words. He found joy in protecting others with his fellow officers and did all he could to uphold the law and keep everyone safe.

He was taken from us too early due to his illness but he let us know he was ready to meet his God. He knew there were many open arms awaiting him. He is missed dearly, but we know he is safe with our lord with the signs he has given us. We find a sense of peace knowing that he is in a place without sickness and he is free to enjoy life after death.

Jim’s wishes were to have his ashes be spread on Black Mountain in Monte Bello Open Space Preserve in Cupertino. A private service will be held for the family to do this, at a later date. After a 5-mile ride up hill, Jim was among the clouds. This area is as intertwined and close to nature and heaven as you can get in the bay area, and we are sure that is one of the reasons he loved it so much.
