John Cardiel was welcomed into Heaven on November 6, 2015, ending a valiant battle with cancer. Survived by loving wife, Margaret; children: Jennifer, John Jr., and Joseph; granddaughter Ava; dear mother, Nellie; siblings Anna Dearlove and Alan; loving in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a multitude of devoted friends. Pre-deceased by his father, Joseph; beloved son Justin; brothers Andy and Paul; and mother-in-law Jean Ramsay.
A U.S. Marine, John was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his service in the Vietnam War.
John had a charismatic personality and excelled in his sales career. He was also a restauranteur, opening the Drying Shed with his brother-in-law, Ed Ramsay. An avid golfer and sports enthusiast, John loved the Giants and the 49ers. John be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Services will commence on November 11, at Lima, 466 N Winchester, Santa Clara. Visitation 6-9 p.m., Rosary at 7 p.m.
Funeral mass on Thurs, Nov 12 at 11 a.m at St Justin's, 2655 Homestead Rd, Santa Clara.
Private Interment at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery on Monday, 1 p.m, November 16, 2016.
