John Shannon O'Connell Jr. (Jack), a longtime resident of Santa Clara County, died in the home of his niece Nancy Reid in San Juan Bautista on August 31, 2012 after a brief illness. Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lorraine O'Connell, his mother and father Mary O'Connell and John Shannon O'Connell Sr., his sisters Elizabeth Scott and Patricia Arata. He is survived by nieces Kathleen Hagberg and Nancy Reid and nephews Mark Arata, Christopher Arata, Matthew Arata, Brian Arata, Anthony Arata, Kelly Scott, Kerry Scott and Kyle Scott. Jack worked for 40 years for Pacific Telephone and spoke often of his memories of that time of his life. A generous philanthropist, Jack supported a variety of causes.
The interment will take place Wednesday September 19 at 11:00am in the St Joseph Mausoleum at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, 490 Lincoln St. Santa Clara.
