John J. O’Toole (Johnny), born in San Francisco on August 21, 1948, passed away peacefully in the early morning of March 16, 2025, surrounded by the family he cherished so deeply.

He is predeceased by his beloved wife, Pamela O’Toole, and his parents, Thomas J. and Mary Jo McGowan O'Toole. He leaves behind his cherished daughters, Janie O’Toole and Casey O’Toole Maya, along with his best friend and son-in-law, Eduardo Maya. He was a proud grandfather to Waylon and Harley. John is also survived by his two older brothers, James T. and Thomas J., his niece Kelly Ann, his nephews Ryan and Patrick, along with their four children, and many cousins.

A proud fifth-generation San Franciscan and graduate of St. Cecilia’s class of 1962, John will always be remembered for his keen wit, wonderful sense of humor, and his love and compassion for others. Celebrating 47 years of sobriety, he was always available to lend a helping hand to those in need. John earned great respect during his 40+ years in property management in the Bay Area. Additionally, he found immense joy working at Garrod Farms, where he devoted his time to caring for the horses he loved so much.

Family and friends are invited to the Celebration of Life on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 2:00PM (Doors opening at 1:30PM) at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara, CA 95050.

Along with his love for horses, John cherished many dogs throughout his life whom he considered family. It was not an unusual sight to see him driving in his white Corvette, top down, with a Golden Retriever sitting proudly in the passenger seat. John will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
