Joseph passed away peacefully in San Jose on January 17th at the age of 88.
Born in Chicago Illinois he served in the US Navy before settling in San Jose. He was a proud member of the ICF (Italian Catholic Federation) at St Martin of Tours church.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Celia Liotta. He is survived by his immediate family, Jack and Faye Guercio of San Jose, Chris and Vivian James of Los Gatos. Aunt Rose Gnoffo of Palm Desert. Cousins Joseph Bonadonna, Victor and Carmella Stramaglio, and, Grace Provenzano, all of Chicago, Madlyn Thompson of Palm Dessert and Joseph Bonadonna of Las Vegas.
Joe enjoyed daytrips throughout the bay area. He was interested in California history, visiting many of the California missions. As a member of ICF he took pleasure in arranging bus trips for the members.
He looked forward to his daily trips to the local coffee/donut shop to visit with his friends, and spending time with his immediate family for holidays and special events.
Final blessings will be held at the Lima Mortuary in Santa Clara located at 466 North Winchester Blvd. Santa Clara, CA 95050. January 29, 2015 at 10:00AM. Followed by internment at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Cancer Society, in Joseph's name.
There will be a Mass of Intentions for Joseph on Sunday March 1, 2015 at 11:30 am at St. Martin of Tours 200 O'Connor Dr. San Jose, CA, 95128.
