Lawrence J. “Larry” Oreglia, 87, of San Jose, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025. Born in San Francisco to Anthony and Malia Oreglia, Larry grew up in San Jose and attended Bellarmine College Prep, where he played on the 1956 Hall of Fame basketball team. In1959, he married Sheila Gerevas, and together they made a home in Willow Glen, raising four sons. A proud U.S.Air Force veteran, Larry spent much of his career as a California Highway Patrol officer before founding Oreglia Painting, later carried on by his son Craig. He loved golf,travel, cheering football, and cherished time at Clear Lake with family and friends.
Larry is survived by Sheila, his wife of 67 years; sons Larry (Cheryl), Craig (Rachel), Steve (Elizabeth), and Ken(Marta); 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his brother Tony (Bertha), and sister Mary Anne.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, October 5, 2025,at 1:00 p.m. at Lima Family Mortuary, 466 North Winchester Boulevard, Santa Clara. Larry will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
