2/10/1931 to 12/1/2016
Lucy’s childhood residence was the city of National Washington.
Lucy and her family were interned at the Tule Lake Relocation Camp during WWII and relocated to San Francisco where she met and married Haruo “Duke” Jio.
Lucy and Duke had three children before putting down roots in Santa Clara California in the 1950’s, and after that added two more children to their family.
Raising her children and staying close to friends and relatives was her joy, but she still made time to do many other things.
She was a licensed Beautician and would not only take care of her children’s hair, but also her neighbors for special occasions.
Lucy was a gifted artist who painted, drew and created many amazing projects.
She was an expert seamstress and would make clothes for her family, curtains for our homes, pillows, dolls, blankets, jackets, hats, upholstery, and anything else that could be made with a sewing machine or a pair of knitting needles.
For many years Lucy sold some of her creations at a local boutique in Cupertino.
Lucy and Duke were avid bowlers and participated in many bowling leagues with their dear friends.
Lucy was part of a wonderful neighborhood.
The Griffin, Ford, Franz, Davis, Brown, Zea, Lorenz, and Bacus families to mention a few, could be found many weekends at informal gatherings at any time.
Some of those same neighbors still live in the same homes today and some were with Lucy at the end.
Lucy is survived by her five children, Lisa, Jeff, Steve, Glenn and Craig, as well as eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The Lucy Jio Family wishes all of her friends and relatives peace and happiness and our family’s greatest appreciation for all that you have done for our mom, Lucy.
