Remembering You On Your Birthday...

Dearest Miss Madeline, I miss seeing your face all those wonderful days when I'd enter your place…
A home filled with roses – both human and flower – regardless of season, the day or the hour.
Always quick with an offer of ice cream or pie, your manner and humor simply made moments fly.
I was honored to spend time with you rubbing your feet… And glad that massage was a much welcome treat.
Lavender, neroli and sweet orange, too,
were the scents most enjoyed – and anointed on cue.
Once your limbs had been warmed, so they weren't so cold, what range of motion… a sight to behold!
You, Neo and I – such a threesome we made – always joking around.  In fact, rarely staid.
Oh, the subjects we covered and the decades discussed!  Our talks ran the gamut from the fair to unjust.
We laughed about life and the school of hard knocks, qbout Ron and the apples… and those hospital socks.
A woman of substance – with beauty and brains – you weathered it all… sunshine, earthquakes and rains.
Well-versed in accounting, dairy, produce and pears, you passed on that knowledge to your lucky heirs…
Wisdom, no doubt, that will serve them for life through good times and hardship, elation and strife.
Aging, most surely, is not for the weak, but you took it in stride and endured every creak.
Despite failing sight and a challenge with hearing, you kept your routines – living life, never veering.
Of course, some say you heard and saw what you chose…  A right well-deserved, if you pleased, Mrs. Rose.
Lunching at Khanh's nearly every week day was a welcome respite from those prunes, one might say.
That sunshiny day we spent out at the coast…  Of all the fun had there what sticks with me most was watching you eat that burrito with zest, singing songs as we drove – “Sin Ti” and the rest.
As family gathered ‘round your hospital bed how privileged I felt to hear all that was said.
Extolling your virtues with laughter and tears…  All the stories recounted from so many years.
No doubt you live on in the memories shared by all those you've touched and through all those who've cared.
Your children and grandkids, and great grandkids, too…  It's clear they were loved – and how much they love you.
Your namesake and others now carry the flame deftly stoked and relayed by you, one special dame.
May your spirit shine on for decades to come…  I miss you, Miss Madeline.  With love, Miriam.

God Bless and help your family through the loss of your Mother! She was very blessed to have her children, grandchildren, great children to Love and be with her. It was a pleasure to know and work for her and the family.

The fondest memories I have were when you taught me how to cook, bake, clean and make a house a home. I remember "countless" hours on the phone with you when ever I was seeking a proper way to do something, you were always there for me. When sharing your favorite recipes you would "whisper" (very frankly) the little "secrets" that made ordinary recipes into "mouth-watering" meals and treats.
Thank you for being like a second mother to me when I was but a teenager, clueless, and needed guidance. Madeline and Manuel will always be remembered with fond memories. Your light's will always shine "brightly" in my memory and in my heart.
