

Mariano “Naning” C. Torino, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on February 18, 2018 in Santa Clara, California. He was 91 years old.
Mariano was born on February 2, 1927 in Batangas, Philippines to his parents Bartolome and Isabel Torino. He graduated from Batangas High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of the East in Manila, Philippines. Mariano married Lily G. Purugganan on July 18, 1964. He worked as an Examiner for the Bureau of Internal Revenue and as an Internal Auditor for the Filipinas Cement Corporation. Mariano migrated to the United States of America in 1976, lived in Los Angeles, California, and worked for the Department of Health Services. His family followed in 1980 and settled in Baldwin Park, California. The family later moved to Santa Clara, California as Mariano transferred to the San Jose, California branch of the Department of Health Services.
Mariano is survived by his wife Lily, daughter and son-in-law Maria and Brian Chiang, son and daughter-in-law Raymon and Anne Torino, daughter Jasmin Torino, and grandchildren Megan Chiang, Rayanne Torino, and Ryan Torino.
Viewing will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 5 PM to 9 PM with rosary at 7 PM at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary in Santa Clara, California. The funeral mass will be on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 11 AM at Church of the Ascension in Saratoga, California.
Mariano C. Torino will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Los Altos, California after the funeral mass. Reception will follow at China Stix Restaurant in Santa Clara, California.
