Resident of Sunnyvale
1912 - 2011
Natalie (Dolly) Seghi, a resident of Sunnyvale for 70 years, died peacefully on February 2, 2011 from natural causes. She was 98 years old.
Dolly was born in Chicago, and was very proud of her Italian heritage. She and husband Mando (died in 1984) moved to the Santa Clara Valley in the early 1940's and raised their two daughters.
Dolly was always known for her robust health and energy. She worked for several years at local canneries, always planted a garden and was a great cook. She even learned to drive a car at age 70.
Dolly's early years involved social events like picnics in Alum Rock Park, sewing circles with her friends, family gatherings for special dinners like crab cioppino or homemade ravioli, and polka parties at Napredak Hall. Dolly and Mando were accomplished campers, going to Yosemite every summer in a homemade trailer, from the early 1940's through 1962.
She is survived by her two daughters, Dolores Scott (Jerry) of Santa Clara and Donna Richeson (Gene) of Pescadero; grandchildren Susan McClammy of Los Altos, Kelly Rice of Portland, Mike Scott of Sunnyvale, Steve Richeson of Portland, and Paul Richeson of Santa Cruz; nine great grandchildren; and a niece, Charlene Renz of Sunnyvale.
Our family would like to thank the staff at Manor Care in Sunnyvale who lovingly cared for Dolly the past eight years.
Services will be held on Monday, February 7 at 10 am at the Santa Clara Mission Cemetery on Winchester Blvd., in Santa Clara.
