

Ray Vierra, resident of San Jose, born and raised in Santa Clara, Ca. Has passed away at the age of 84, due to complications of having a stroke. A devoted husband to wife Jerry Vierra for the last 34 years. Raymond graduated from Santa Clara High in 1946, while being a 3 sport athlete, he also enjoyed boxing as a youth.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Elizabeth Vierra (who both had imigrated from Portugal in the very early 1900's), his son Terry, stepson Tim Davis, sisters Emily (Freitas), Carol (O'neil), and Clara (Gamma). He is survived by his wife Jerry, daughter Laura (Jack Faber), sons Mitch (Diane) & Mike, stepson Tom Davis, stepdaughter Barbara Davis, sisters Loraine (Stegmiller), Nancy (Ferguson) and brother Lenny, along with 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Raymond moved his family to Campbell in 1953 and as a dedicated father spent the next 16 years coaching his kids and hundreds of others in volunteering as a coach for the Campbell Little League, Pony and Colt league organizations. During that time he became a valued employee with Mission City Lumber Company in Santa Clara, as a blueprinter and estimater for the cabinet building aspect of the company, staying with that company until his retirement. He enjoyed vacations to Whispering Pines (Cobb Mt.) with family and relatives, along with “guys weekends' to Lake Tahoe and Reno to try his luck at the tables. In his retirement years, vacation trips made with his wife Jerry, their friends and Ray's brother/ sisters were always a highlight. He was a long time active member of the Portuguese-American Club in Santa Clara. Ray maintained an extremely tight relationship with his sisters and brother throughout his life and was respected by everyone around him. Raymond was always a man with a smile and a friendly demeanor, which drew people to him while in social situations. The time spent with his children and later on, grandchildren as they grew up into adults was a source of great pride to him over the many decades while living in San Jose.
