Richard David Chiorello

Beloved dad and papa passed away peacefully in San Jose, CA on December 8, 2016. He was 85. Born on January 4, 1931 in Trenton, NJ to Frank and Antoinette Chiorello, Richard was the sixth of 15 children. As a child, he played piano and later excelled as a basketball forward for Trenton Catholic Boys High School. In 1951 he joined the Coast Guard, which brought him to California. He worked almost forty years in the financial industry, including 17 years at Mercury Savings and Loan where he last served as Vice President. Richard remained active his entire life, playing senior softball into his 70’s.

Richard was a loving and supportive father and his favorite times were when family could be together. He is survived by his children Vincent, Laura (Jeff), David (Janet), Michael, and Lisa, his grandchildren James (Megan), Lanah, Vivienne, and Cody, and his great grandchildren Ryan and Liam. He is also survived by his brothers Frank (Fran), Anthony (Frances), Ronald, James (Vilma), Kenneth, and Roy, and sisters Shirley and Dorothy, all of New Jersey, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jerry, and his sisters Caroline, Connie, and Mary.

His family would like to thank the staff at On Lok Lifeways for their loving care for dad.

A celebration of dad’s life will be held on Friday January 13th, 2017 at 10:00am at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 N Winchester Blvd, Santa Clara. Reception will immediately follow. His final resting place will be at Los Gatos Memorial Park.
