It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, husband, and friend, Roberto Gil, who left us peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the age of 80.
A man of deep roots and quiet strength, Roberto was born to a life close to nature and spent much of his time on the water and in the woods. As a dedicated fisherman and skilled deer hunter, he found peace and purpose in the great outdoors. Whether casting a line at dawn or tracking game through the trees, he lived a life filled with patience, perseverance, and respect for the land.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Susie, whose unwavering love and partnership were the foundation of his life. Together, they built a home full of warmth, laughter, and enduring values.
Roberto was the proud father of five children—Robert, Charlotte, Angie, Sylvia, and James—each of whom carries his legacy of resilience, humility, and strength. His greatest joy came in the form of his grandchildren: Allyssa, Cheyanne, Isaac, Kayla, Karina, Karissa, Jacob, and Emiliano, whom he adored and who brought light and laughter to his days.
Those who knew Roberto will remember his quiet wisdom, gentle humor, and the way he showed love through action more than words. His stories, steady presence, and the scent of fresh fish or campfire will remain forever in our hearts.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
A celebration of Roberto’s life will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, in Santa Clara. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend a day in nature, in his honor—fishing, walking in the woods, or simply sitting in silence under the sky he loved so much.
If you would like to make a donation in his honor, please consider supporting Jacob’s Heart, an organization close to the family’s heart, which provides care and support to children with cancer and their families.
