Bill was born in Norwood, Massachusetts on March 16, 1935 to William F. Percy and Helen Flynn Percy. Graduating from Willow Glen High in the class of 1952 he went on to graduate from San Jose State College where he was a member of Delta Sigma Phi. Bill was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve and served with a helicopter unit.
In 2003, Bill married Irene Orlando, the widow of his friend Al, at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church. Monsignor Walsh officiated at their wedding and he remained a very close friend whom they visited in Ireland where he had retired. The Msgr. passed away within days of Bill and we are sure he welcomed Bill at the Pearly Gates upon his arrival.
Bill had a long career in the concrete industry as an estimator and a dispatcher,
and his vehicle license plate read “6 SACK”. Years before after winning the lotto with 5 out of 6 numbers he drove a car with the license plate reading “5 0F 6”. Bill enjoyed attending the annual Salinas rodeo and other similar events in California and Nevada.
Bill is survived by his wife Irene of San Jose, a brother, Dennis Percy of Qatar and two sisters, Pat Lytle of Rancho Murieta, Katha Danz (Phil) of El Dorado Hills. Also survived by stepchildren Todd Orlando and Vickie Knowles and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will he held at the Lima Mortuary, 466 Winchester Blvd. Santa Clara on May 18th at 1:00 pm.
