

Xiao-Li Yi , 76 passed away on April 26, 2020 due to complications from stomach cancer at El Camino Hospital Mountain View, Mountain View, CA. Mrs. Yi was born in ChengDu, China. She moved to Gainesville, FL 29 years ago from Guilin, China. She worked as a Lab Technician in the Department of Soil Testing Lab at the University of Florida for 20 years. She retired from the university and moved out to the west coast to stay with her daughter.
She had lived a fruitful life in both China and US. She took on the challenges in life and challenged it back, and she overcame many adversities and will not give up easily. In China, she worked as a chemical engineer, an instrumentation specialist, and even as a 5-star hotel department manager. After coming to the US at almost age 50, she started as an hourly worker at McDonalds, worked as seamstress on commission, a lab technician for soil testing and even started her own home alteration business. She was remembered by people around her as an honest, persevering, kind, warm, strong and independent woman.
She is survived by her Son Chang Zhang, of Atlanta(GA) and Daughter Han Zhang of San Jose(CA).
No Memorial Service will be held due to Covid-19 lockdown in CA. There will be a short family viewing before the cremation service on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 11:30 AM by Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary. No visitation will be held for the cremation service.

Zhang’s Family wishes all donations to be made to the 4th floor nurses at 4A at El Camino Hospital Mountain View, CA. These doctors and nurses helped to care for her during her final days on earth.
