

Vivian was born in Omaha, Nebraska in 1917. She left the Midwest to move to California in 1936, where she met Ellis (“Bud”). They married in 1939, and had two sons, Roger and Stephen. She finished her RN training in 1961 and worked various nursing jobs until her mid-80’s, including as school nurse in Le Mars, Iowa and as a private duty nurse. From 1968-1989, she managed The Petite Mall Hotel on 3rd St. in Santa Monica. In 1989, Vivian left Santa Monica to move to Northfork, CA for semi-retirement. She moved back to the Los Angeles area in 2008 to be closer to family for health reasons. As of 2011, she resided at the Pacific Convalescent Center in Santa Monica, where she passed on Saturday, May 24 2014.
Vivian traveled Europe and North America extensively throughout her long life, including making it to all the 50 states. She loved music, life at the cabin, helping others, and observing the Sabbath with the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She is survived by her two sons, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
